Introduction

At ESBA, Cape Pyla is a candidate Special Area of Conservation.  The area has been mapped by the Republic of Cyprus in 2000 through a European Union LIFE project undertaken for the designation of the Natura 2000 sites.  Currently, a study commissioned to consultants by the SBAA is underway to confirm the interest mapped by the Republic and to add any additional areas which may qualify for designation.
